About
Aquiles
/ a-KEE-les / — Named for the hero who was nearly invincible. We're working on the heel.
We started Aquiles with a question that felt almost too obvious to ask: Why do most legal technology tools feel like they were designed for someone else?
Not because lawyers are resistant to technology — that's a lazy myth. Lawyers adopt tools that genuinely help. They reject tools that create more work than they save. And most legal tech creates more work, because it's project management software wearing a legal costume, optimized for metrics that no litigator has ever cared about.
We thought: what if the starting point wasn't "How do we make law firms more efficient?" but "What does a lawyer actually do when they sit down to work on a case?"
They read. They write. They analyze. They connect information across documents and build arguments. They think carefully — which takes time, silence, and tools that stay out of the way until called upon.
Deep, not wide
Aquiles is focused on the core intellectual work of legal practice: writing, organizing, analyzing, and tracking. No CRM. No calendar integration. No kanban board. Every feature we build feeds into the others — your case log informs your AI analysis, your structured case details give the AI authoritative data to reference, your time entries track real work product, and your AI outputs become searchable references you build on over time. We'd rather be deeply integrated than broadly adequate.
Designed for the long session
We spent what some might call an unreasonable amount of time on typography, color, and spacing. Serif headings that carry the weight of a law library without the dust. Clean, modern body text that's readable for hours. A warm accent palette that says "I'm serious about my work, but I'm not a robot." The difference between a thoughtful interface and an aggressive one compounds over thousands of hours. We optimize for the long session.
Your data, your machine
Aquiles is a desktop application. Your documents, case logs, and search indexes live on your machine — encrypted at rest with bank-grade AES-256 encryption. When AI features need cloud processing, only the minimum necessary context is sent, processed in real-time with zero retention, and never used to train models. We don't store your case data. We don't analyze your usage patterns. We don't sell anything to anyone. We make software. You buy it. That's the whole relationship.
Built by people who care
Aquiles is built by a small team that believes the practice of law is important — and that the people who do it deserve tools built with the same care they bring to their work. Not every legal tech company needs to be a platform play or a unicorn. Some of us just want to build something good.
If that sounds like your kind of thing, come try it.
